Poonam Prajapati is a 19-year-old woman living in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh. Poonam married Sajjan from Madhya Pradesh. After the wedding, Sajjan made it clear to Poonam that he would not be her husband, he married her only to get the dowry. Her husband and brother-in-law threatened her and Rajan, her brother-in-law, sexually abused her. When Poonam's father approached his daughter's matrimonial home to take her back to him, he was threatened with murder. Eventually, he succeeded. Poonam's father is hoping for justice in court and is also trying to get the dowry paid back.
Poonam needs money to cover legal fees for a court case.

Shayra is 38 years old and married Alisher about 17 years ago. After the marriage, her in-laws started to harass her physically and mentally. When Shayra fell ill, she was not given any treatment, and beatings and abuse were common place. When Shayra became pregnant, she told her husband and family members, but the husband beat Shayra severely and forcibly gave her medicine, which made Shayra very ill. Shayra went back to her parents, but they could not get Sharya treated because of their poverty. Her sister-in-law, a single woman, helped her a lot and took her in. A case was registered in court on 6.9.2011 in Vanangana. The case has been in court since then. Shayra divorced her husband, but she has not received any maintenance to date.

Kulshum was married to a police officer. After the marriage, her husband started imposing many restrictions on Kulshum, such as not allowing her to talk to other women or relatives, and if he caught her doing so, he started beating Kulshum. Kulshum could not eat properly or sleep. After some time, she gave birth to a son, but her husband still treated her the same. His harassment increased and Kulshum's father found out about his daughter's abuse. So her father took her back to his parents' house and asked the local women's group for help. With the help of the organization's staff, a complaint of harassment was filed and a maintenance suit was also filed. The women's group covered the travel expenses and helped with the litigation. Today, Kulshum has forgotten her traumatic past and lives her life with her child freely and happily without fear.
Kulshum needs 1200 € in support for a two-year midwifery course that will help her earn a living and in turn help other women. And she wants to open a grocery store and needs 550 €

Belia, 40, is the sister of five brothers. Her home was very poor. Her father married Belia about 25 years ago to Bindurais, who was a government official. Since Belia was not educated, her husband beat her every day. Over time, Belia became the mother of three daughters, but her husband did not change his behavior. One day, two of Belia's daughters fell ill. Both died because their husbands refused to pay for treatment. Belia went back to her parents and her husband filed for divorce.
Belia is not well physically and emotionally and the money helps her to support the daily lives of herself and her daughter.

Sajida was married to Mustafa 18 years ago. Arguments, insults, fights and no food for her soon became a part of her daily life. Sajida often told her parents about this problem, but they immediately sent her back to her in-laws as they were too poor to support Sajida. During this time, Sajida gave birth to a daughter named Muskaan. Her husband, who lived mostly in Delhi, took Sajida to Delhi, where she learned that he sold women into prostitution. He also arranged for Sajida to find clients, but she refused to join his business. Her husband then beat her mercilessly. However, Sajida managed to inform her brother by phone, who brought her back home. The incident still haunts Sajida today like a shadow and her trust has been broken ever since.

Rashmi, 30, was married to Anshuman at the age of 19. Her father gave her a reasonable dowry, but her husband was not satisfied. She was regularly abused and beaten by her husband. After the birth of her daughter, he became even more violent. He often threatened to kill her and one day threw her out of the house. Rashmi's father took her to Vanangana (a women's group) who were seeking maintenance for her and her daughter. The maintenance court awarded her €40 a month. However, her husband appealed and nine years later, the case is still pending. Rashmi has been struggling to make ends meet as a daily wage worker ever since.
Rashmi needs money for the court case and to finance her daughter's education. She also wants to open a small shop to support herself.

Neetu is a seven-year-old brave girl. Neetu was raped by 3 men. The perpetrators belong to a higher caste and are uneducated. Neetu has been suffering from mental health problems since the incident. A complaint was filed against the perpetrators and one of them was arrested, but the other three have since fled the scene.
Neetu needs support for the next three years to cover her legal costs and her education.

After the wedding, Ranjana's in-laws started mocking her about her dowry. On September 10, 2022, Kamta came to her house and was harassed and beaten because of her dowry. All of Vanangana's attempts to find solutions with her in-laws and her husband failed.
Now Ranjana needs 150 € for court costs and 400 € to open a grocery store.

In 2016, her in-laws tried to kill her by pouring kerosene on her. Nasreen managed to escape to her parents' house. Her son stayed with her husband, who is also trying to take her second son. Nasreen went to court to file a case against domestic violence and maintenance.
