Poonam Prajapati Tindwari / 225 €
Poonam Prajapati is a 19 year old woman, residing in the Banda district of Uttar Pradesh. More specifically, she is a resident of Simra village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Tindwari Police Station. Poonam got married to Sajjan, who hailed from Ajitpur, Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh. After marriage, Sajjan made it clear to Poonam that he wouldn't consummate their marriage, and he married her just to acquire the dowry. Poonam sadly did not receive any support from her home maternal regarding this matter, and she was sent back to her husbands home. Her husband and brother in law threatened her, and Rajan, her brother in law, sexually assaulted her. Not only was Poonam sexually assaulted, her father was berated with death threats when he approached her daughter's marital home to take her away. Poonam's father is still searching for justice, hoping to regain the dowry amount.
Poonam needs money to cover the legal expenses for a court case.

Kulsum Shekhanpur / 2.250 €
Kulshum daughter of Sariful Hasan, a Muslim resident of Shekhanpur, police station Girwa, district Banda Kulshubh, was married with Zubair caste Muslim of Gam Naraini town police station Naraini Bouda. After marriage, the husband started imposing many restrictions on Kulshum like she could not talk to any other women or relatives and if she were spotted doing so, he used to start beating Kulshum,. Kulshum could not eat properly, could not sleep, after some Dtime she gave birth to a son but there was no improvement in the husband. His harassment increased and the father came to know of his daughters abuse husband. The father went and brought Kulshum back to her maternal home, and help was sought from the womens group. The dowry harassment report was filed with the the help of the organization's workers, and the maintenance suit was also filed. The agency paid for the travel and helped in court advocacy, today Kulshum has forgotten her traumatic past and is living his life with her child, freely and happily without any fear.
She needs support for a midwife course of 2 years, which will support her to sustain her own living and help other women.

Sayra Harduli / 1800 €
Struggling woman Shayra age 38 years old caste Muslim resident of Hardauli police station Baberu. Shayra was married about 17 years ago with Alisher resident Atrauli police station Baberu. After marriage, the in-laws started harassing her physically and mentally, if Shayra became ill, she did not get her treatment, beatings and abuses became common. Due to this, after a few days, Shayra became pregnant, she told this to her husband and family members, but the husband was not at all happy with this and he hit Shayra a lot and forcibly fed her the medicine, due to which Shayra became very ill. In the same disease condition, her husband left her maternal home but her parents could not get Shayra's treatment beause of their poverty. Her sister-in-law a single women helped a lot and she took her into her home This case was registered in Vanangana on 6.9.2011, after that the husband was talked to but he refused to take her back or support her , after that the woman was counseled by the institution and adviced to file a case a case in the court. Asked for a chance to think after a few days when he openly put his problem in front of the organization that I do not have enough money to pay the lawyer's fees and I am not even in a position to do some work. Then with the help of a womens group got the case of Shayra's maintenance filed in the court , and she has been pursuing her case continuously since 2012. Shayra got divorced from her husband but still the maintenance has not been given to her . This case is still going on.
Sharya needs money to continue fighting her legal case and to sustain her living by setting up a grocery shop.

Sajida Aliganj / 800 €
Sajida is a Muslim woman. Sajida's house is in Aliganj locality of Bada city. Sajida was married 18 years ago to Mustafa in Gyora village of Banda district . Fighting, abusing, fighting, quarreling, not giving food expenses, soon become a part of her daily life, Sajida shared this problem many times with her parents but they would send her right back her in-laws' house . Her maternal home was financially very weak that they could support Sajida. During this, Sajida gave birth to a daughter whose name is Muskaan, her husband used to spend more time living in Delhi. At the behest of Sajida, both the maternal side and the in-laws together organized a panchayat. Sajida's spoke up in this panchayat and said that she will go to Delhi with her husband, the condition is that the husband should not beat or abuse her , and keep her well At her behest, the husband readily agreed on Sajida's terms. The reason for accepting the conditions was something else. Sajida's husband lived in Delhi and used to sell girls. After Sajida had been in Delhi for ten days her husband again started pressurizing Sajida. That the business that I do, you will also have to do the same business. On Sajida's refusal, the husband beat up Sajida very mercilessly and he also brought many customers for Sajida but Sajida did not lose her courage. She told the whole incident to the landlord , who told Sajida's brother about the whole incident by phone. Sajida's brother brought Sajida back to Banda. Her heart was broken as well as the trust that she had of her husband. Today Sajida does not trust anyone. The incident of ten years ago continues like a shadow with Sajida even today

Belia Rajapur / 1200 €
Belia 40 years was a sister among her five brothers, there was a lot of poverty in the maternal house. Her father married Belia about 25 years ago to Bindurai son Ayodhya Prasad who was a government master. He had done so according to his status, because of being a simple and not educated, Ayodhya Prasad used to beat Belia every day. The days passed Belia became the mother of three daughters but in Ayodhya Prasad no change came. One day Belia's two daughters fell ill, and died due to non-payment of money from her husband for treatment. Due to which Belia became very sad. A day later, Belia's father came and brought Belia with him for a few days, Belia still had not forget her grief that her husband had sent a divorce notice. Seeing this, the father became very upset and went to explain to his son-in-law. But Ayodhya Prasad drove him aqay- The father gave dowry to the son-in-law, due to which Ayodhya Prayad filed a case of harassment of Belia and explained to him that he would never beat him again and would keep it well. Belia was very straight, she compromised with the court and went from there with her husband. On reaching home, Belia came to know that her husband had brought a wife and remarried. Seeing this, Belia returned to her parents and they all started to fight a case together in court.

Rashmi / 850 €
Rashmi 30 years old was married to Anshuman, village Markha when she was 19 years of age. Her father gave her adequate dowry but the husband was never satisfied . She was regularly beaten by the husband whenever he came to visit (he lived in Allahabad) and also he used to use the most choicest of swear words. Once her daughter was born he grew even more violent . She somehow survived two years in the marital home where he often threatened to kill her. One day she was finally thrown out of the marital home. Rashmis father brought her to Vanangana ( a womens group) who tried to make both sides come to a settlement, Anshuman refused to live with Rashmi or support her. With the support of Vanangana she filed for maintainance under 125 IPC. The lower court granted her Rs 1500 for herself and 2000 Rs for her daughter. The husband appealed in the high court and nine years later the case is still pending. She struggles by doing daily wage labour to support herself and her daughter.
Rashmi needs money for the court case, to sustain her daughters education and to set up a shop, which will help her to sustain her own living.
